Things are coming along…

Another month has come and gone, and our baby preparations continue. Anne’s room is coming together nicely. Laura ordered a cute set of crib bedding which came in last week, so we washed it all and put it on the crib. We also stripped and washed all of the fabric from the stroller, car seat, baby swing, and changing table, and got those items reassembled. There are only a couple big items still remaining: I need to empty out the dresser I’m using for miscellaneous storage upstairs and move that into the nursery, and we need to find a nice small bookshelf.

In a couple more weeks, we’ll have the first of our childbirth and labor classes, and in November we’re taking an infant first aid and CPR class. I still feel… unprepared; like I don’t know anything about how to be a parent. I’ve heard that while there may be good things you can learn from reading the literature, no amount of reading will teach you to be a perfect parent, or how exactly to raise your own child, because each one is so different. I’m trying to relax a bit, learn what I can, and accept that ultimately I just have to do my best, learn from my mistakes, and hope I do a good job. Time will tell.

I finally did a smart thing and added a link to the photo galleries on the right-hand sidebar, so I don’t have to keep plugging it in the posts. There’s a new picture of Laura and her baby bump and pictures of progress in Anne’s nursery. Comments are enabled on the blog now too, if you’re so inclined.
