Goals
I’ve decided to use my first post of the new year to set some goals. I’m not a fan of “New Year’s Resolutions”, so I’m intentionally avoiding that label and trying to focus on some shorter-term goals instead.
- About two weeks ago, Laura and I started a project on Flickr to take a self-portrait every day for a year to work on improving our photography and post-processing skills. Links to our Flickr photostreams will be in the sidebar shortly.
- I’m setting a goal of writing one blog post per week for the remainder of this year.
- I’ve set a goal in Wii Fit to lose 14 pounds by March 17, about 7 weeks from now. In accordance with this goal, we are getting back on our Weight Watchers program, starting today. To keep myself motivated and honest, I plan to track my progress here, but those posts don’t count toward goal #2.
- As Laura mentioned in a couple places yesterday, we’ve set a goal of entering our first 5K run on July 4th, and we did our first training session this morning. We’re using the Couch-to-5K program from Cool Running.
I’m feeling pretty good about all of this, but today’s the first day (except for my 365 project), so we’ll see how it goes. If more than a week goes by without a blog post, feel free to remind me.
In baby development news, Anne seems to have figured out how to wave in the last few minutes. Laura was holding her at her computer while I sit in my recliner, and we started waving back and forth across the room. I’d been trying to get her to do it by bending her fingers at the hand, but instead, she’s flapping her whole hand up and down at the wrist. Oh well, it’s cute either way.
